Transportation/Community Planner (full-time, hybrid schedule)
Hunt Valley, MD, Dover, DE, or Wilmington, DE
Rossi Group is seeking a highly motivated entry to mid-level Transportation/Community Planner to join our planning team in either our Hunt Valley, Maryland office or our Dover or Wilmington, Delaware offices. This position requires an individual to have an interest in and understanding of the terminology and application of technical and local government processes associated with land use and development, public health, safety and welfare, and various transportation modes. The qualified individual would support a variety of community and multi-modal transportation projects on behalf of our clients in Delaware, Maryland, and throughout the MidAtlantic.
In this position, you play an integral role in assisting the communities with which we work. You will support our team in guiding the community's leaders as they plan for future development and growth. You will perform data collection and analysis, and conduct research to determine the potential challenges a community faces. Using your analytical, GIS, and policy skills you will examine the data and search for trends, and identify opportunities to guide future growth. You will support the preparation of comprehensive community plans, long-range plans, pedestrian/bicycle/safety plans, and the development of sustainable concepts and alternatives.
The selected candidate will be expected to balance the workload associated with multiple projects and plans simultaneously and ensure high-quality deliverables. You will coordinate with varying teams of in-house professional scientists, planners, and engineers, as well as municipal and government clients and leaders.
Responsibilities:

Provide planner support to conduct comprehensive and long-range plan research, development, and updates

Understand data and exercise basic analysis methods

Prepare GIS mapping and data analysis

Collaborate with engineers to develop safety, multi-modal, and streetscape improvements and analysis for towns, corridors, and intersections

Coordinate projects within the project team and with client agencies and stakeholders

Prepare summary reports and memos including environmental documents

Participate in public outreach efforts (stakeholder and public meetings)

Communicate and interface with clients and regulatory agencies
Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum 3-5 years of relevant transportation and/or community planning experience or a Bachelor or Master of Science in Planning, Science, Policy, or related field

Basic understanding of municipal, county, regulatory framework and processes

Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present clear, concise reports, plans, data, and information to public officials, professional peers, and clients

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, public officials, and other government agencies, clients, and consultants

Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team

Ability to effectively utilize ArcGIS and software for word processing, spreadsheets, and publication (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe)

Ability to balance and prioritize workload with little oversight

Valid Driver’s License and the ability to provide own transportation to meetings and site visits
Anticipated Wage and Benefits:
Rossi Group provides full benefits including matching 401k and profit sharing. This position offers an anticipated salary range of $65k-$78k depending on experience, certifications, and abilities.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Work is generally performed in an indoor office setting

Working from a job site office may be necessary

Fieldwork would include physical visual inspection of project sites; walking project sites and/or driving project sites; working outdoors, walking on uneven ground of construction sites; lifting objects of 20 pounds

Expect project-dependent evening and weekend meetings
