Transportation Engineering Technician (TET) III/IV or Senior Inspector - Baltimore, MD
Rossi Group has an immediate opening for a Transportation Engineering Technician (TE) III/IV or senior inspector with experience in construction, materials testing, construction inspection and quality control of heavy highway and/or civil maintenance, or new construction projects. The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience in inspecting heavy construction and/or maintenance projects including; conducting roadway and bridge inspections, maintenance operations, soil and material testing, reviewing and reading engineering plans, maintenance of traffic inspection, electrical and structural construction means and methods and familiarity with transportation department standards and details.
Should be knowledgeable of basic engineering principles, practices and methods, design criteria, construction standards, inspection techniques, basic mathematics used in engineering, Temporary Traffic Control Standards, National Electrical and Safety Codes, and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, structural/bridge construction means and methods, AASHTO and ASTM test specifications. Skilled in software, computers and mechanical equipment used for performing technical engineering support tasks is critical. Knowledge of the material management systems (eMCMS or Unifer) is a plus.

National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) certification, in-house certifications or state-sponsored, material-testing certification may be required for some positions.

Employees in this classification may be required to possess an American Society for Non-Destructive Testing Level I Certification.

Employees in this classification may be required to achieve certification in field testing procedures in concrete, soil aggregate, and Hot Mix Asphalt within a given time period.

Employees are required to work in the field during inspection assignments, with exposure to varying weather conditions and rough terrain, and requirements for walking, standing, bending, and lifting loads weighing up to 80 pounds. May require working in close proximity with traffic on highways, required hand eye/coordination in the efficient operation of computers and other office machines, survey equipment, and field equipment.

Ability to perform basic mathematical computations used in engineering design and geometry.
