Senior Transportation Planner - Baltimore, MD
Rossi Group is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transportation Planner to join our growing team. The qualified candidate will serve as Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager on a variety of multi-modal transportation and transit projects on behalf of our clients in Delaware and Maryland.
This role will develop and participate in identifying new opportunities, preparing effective technical proposals, and will take an active leadership role in new business development while capitalizing on existing client relationships. This individual will be expected to oversee multiple projects simultaneously within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables. Project Management aspects of the position will include coordination with complex teams consisting of in-house professional scientists, planners, and engineers as well as strategic teaming partners, subconsultants, and a variety of clients. This individual needs to possess leadership and mentorship qualities to ensure the overall success of the project team.
Responsibilities

Lead or manage multimodal transportation projects

Review of project designs for multimodal and safety enhancements, and design guidelines (MUTCD, ASHTO, NACTO)

Alternative development and analysis for multimodal corridors and streetscapes

Safety improvements and analysis for corridors and intersections
-
Coordinate projects within the project team and with client agencies and stakeholders

Prepare summary reports and memos including environmental documents

Participate or lead public outreach efforts (stakeholder and public meetings)

Compete for and win new work

Enjoy a significant role with direct influence on business decisions
Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor or Master of Science in Planning, Engineering, or related field
-
Minimum 8 years of relevant transit and transportation planning and/or engineering experience
-
Current AICP or Professional Engineer license in DE and/or MD
-
Understanding of transit and multi-modal transportation planning and engineering design principles

Excellent analytical and communication skills

Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team

Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple projects and personnel

Commitment to being an active participant of our company culture

Valid Driver’s License and the ability to provide own transportation to meetings and site visits
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills

Experience in current practices of multi-modal transportation and place making

Experience in developing sustainable solutions for multi-modal transportation projects

Experience in project management

Ability to effectively utilize software for word processing, spreadsheets, and publication (Word, PowerPoint, Adobe)

Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present clear, concise reports, data and information to public officials, professional peers, and clients

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, public officials and other government agencies, clients, and consultants
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Work is generally performed in an indoor office setting

Working from a job site office may be necessary

Field work may include physical inspection of project sites; walking project sites and/or driving project sites; working outdoors, walking on uneven ground of construction sites; lifting objects of 20 pounds
