Highway Engineer (Full-time, hybrid schedule)​

Hunt Valley, MD, Dover, DE, or Wilmington, DE

Rossi Group is seeking a motivated and talented Highway Engineer. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 4 years of experience in transportation and roadway improvements, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, ADA improvements, and associated stormwater management/erosion and sediment control or traffic engineering design. The candidate will work independently on smaller projects or portions of larger projects. This is a hybrid position with flexible hours and the ability to work from home and from our Dover, DE, Wilmington, DE, or Hunt Valley, MD office on in-office days. Tasks and assignments will include:

Responsibilities:

• Conduct multi-modal studies, planning, analysis, and design

• Conduct preliminary and final engineering design for the preparation of plans, estimates, and specifications

• Prepare engineering-related calculations and develop drawings plans and visual aids

• Conduct office research, fieldwork, data collection, and data analysis

• Prepare technical reports and PowerPoint presentations

• Develop construction cost estimates

• Managing scope and schedules

• Coordinate with other team members and clients

Qualifications: ​

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program with an emphasis in highway engineering, transportation, or related discipline

• Minimum of 4 years of experience

• EIT or FE certificate, with the ability to obtain PE within 6 months of employment

• Proficiency in using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, HCS, HSM, and similar software

• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

• Experience with DelDOT or MDOT project development procedures, policies, and publications

• Experience in applying standard engineering techniques and analyses in civil engineering

• Ability to work well in a team environment

• Analytical thinking/problem-solving

• Strong verbal written communication skills and the ability to write concise technical reports and documents

• Self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail-oriented work, and demonstrate effective time management skills

• Valid driver’s license

Anticipated Wage and Benefits:

Rossi Group provides full benefits including matching 401k and profit sharing. This position offers an anticipated salary range of $80k-$105k depending on experience, certifications, and abilities.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: 

• Work is generally performed in an indoor office setting

• Working from a job site office or on-site at a client office may be necessary

• Field work would include physical visual inspection of project sites; walking project sites and/or driving project sites; working outdoors, walking on uneven ground of construction sites; lifting objects of 20 pounds

• Occasional project-dependent evening and weekend meetings
