Exelon/Baltimore Gas & Electric Gas
Distribution Automation Project
As a Diversity Supplier Contractor, Rossi Group is providing assessment, engineering, and design services in support of the BGE Distribution Automation Radio Frequency (RF) Antenna Repeater Project. We are providing complete assessment and design services for BGE in order to upgrade their communications system by installing an RF Antenna communications system around the greater Baltimore area. Services are provided in both a rural and urban setting, extending from Anne Arundel County/Baltimore County border to the Pennsylvania State Line.
In order to complete services, there is a certain amount of field and office design work that must be undertaken. The fieldwork sites are identified, mapped and researched to make sure the appropriate pole is located and used for placement of the new RF technology communication systems. Rossi then utilizes our field technicians to complete the site visit walkdown, taking measurements and pictures for reference of nearby and related poles, lights, transformers and other field related utilities, creating a one-line diagram in the field containing all relevant dimensions and notations. After completion of the fieldwork technician returns to the office to download all pictures and field notes.
Rossi then provides a complete assessment and design using Exelon’s Remote website utilizing AS8, Atlas, Expert Designer, Google Maps/Earth. Using Bentley MicroStation, Rossi creates a 2D drawing using Atlas and Google Earth, as references only, for laying out all building, roadways, utilities, and property right-of-way. The MicroStation CAD drawing includes an appropriate border for the corresponding job type, all pertinent job information and the complete project design of the communication system upgrades. Once completing the MicroStation drawing, Rossi provides the necessary in-house quality control.
Final design services are then completed utilizing AS8, Expert Designer, and Atlas. Pertinent design information is assembled under each task utilizing Expert Designer and Design Assistant. Once completed, a Hyperion Report is created. Atlas is utilized to create a “trail” around the jobsite and indicate the path to be used for the new equipment location and installation. Rossi then assists BGE/Prime Contractor with the necessary permits for construction and any questions that are raised by the 3rd Party contractors.
